The revered Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams in Tirupati is expected to draw a massive number of devotees, and to ensure their well-being, the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS University) has set up dedicated medical camps across the temple city.
These essential healthcare facilities commenced operations on September 24, 2025, and will continue to serve pilgrims daily until October 2, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. A dedicated team of medical professionals, including doctors, paramedical staff, and nurses, are working in two shifts to cater to the needs of the visiting devotees.
Dr. R.V. Kumar, Director and Vice-Chancellor of SVIMS, personally inspected the camps on Friday, September 26, 2025, to assess the readiness of the staff and the standard of medical services provided. He also oversaw the logistical arrangements, ensuring they were sufficient to manage the expected pilgrim footfall. Dr. Kumar noted that, on average, approximately 400 pilgrims seek assistance at the two camps daily.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by pilgrims undertaking the trek, particularly issues like breathlessness, fatigue, dehydration, or chest discomfort, SVIMS, a super-specialty hospital managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), has strategically placed two medical camps at the base of the main trekking routes: Alipiri and Srivarimettu. Establishing these first-aid centers alongside the annual festival in Tirumala is a long-standing tradition for SVIMS, reflecting their commitment to pilgrim welfare.
