In a significant leap for digital inclusion across India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate a massive rollout of 5,985 new 4G towers in Andhra Pradesh this Saturday. These state-of-the-art towers, powered by BSNL’s innovative ‘Swadeshi’ (indigenous) technology, represent a major step towards bridging the digital divide in the region.
The grand commissioning event, to be held at A-Convention in Vijayawada, will be graced by several prominent figures. Expected attendees include Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu, and Union Minister of State for Communications P. Chandrasekhar, along with numerous MPs, MLAs, and high-ranking officials from the Department of Communications. This gathering underscores the national importance and collaborative effort behind this crucial infrastructure project.
During a press briefing on Friday, M. Seshachalam, Chief General Manager-Telecom for BSNL A.P. Telecom Circle, highlighted the transformative impact of these new installations. He proudly announced that these 5,985 towers would bring vital 4G mobile coverage to an impressive 2,641 remote villages across Andhra Pradesh, empowering communities that have long remained underserved. Globally, Prime Minister Modi will oversee the commissioning of over 97,000 4G towers nationwide, an ambitious project costing an estimated ₹37,000 crore, demonstrating the government’s strong commitment to a digitally inclusive future for all citizens.
