The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is pulling out all the stops to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims during the much-awaited annual Srivari Brahmotsavams. A comprehensive and extensive healthcare network has been set up, promising uninterrupted medical services for the hundreds of thousands of devotees who will flock to the sacred Tirumala hill shrine.
During a recent press conference held at the Ram Bhagicha-2 media centre, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Narmada, alongside Ashwini Hospital Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Kusuma Kumari, detailed these extensive arrangements. She announced that a dedicated team of 50 doctors and 60 paramedical staff, including experienced professionals from the esteemed Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), will be actively on duty for the entire duration of the festivities.
Emergency response capabilities have been significantly bolstered. The standard fleet of 10 ambulances has been expanded with four additional units, strategically placed at each corner of the Mada streets and one following closely behind the daily vahanam processions. For the highly anticipated ‘Garuda Seva’ day, which sees exceptionally large crowds, a special deployment of 20 senior doctors and an equal number of paramedics will be stationed specifically along the four main Mada streets, ready to provide immediate assistance.
Critical care facilities have also been prioritized, with two six-bed Intensive Care Units (ICUs) now fully equipped and operational. One ICU is conveniently located at the senior citizens’ shed, and the other at the Varaha Swamy Rest House. To ensure rapid medical aid across the temple town, first-aid kits and vital medicines will be continuously transported using two dedicated battery-operated vehicles, as Dr. Narmada further explained.
These proactive measures, Dr. Narmada emphasized, are a testament to TTD’s unwavering commitment to pilgrim welfare. The primary goal is to guarantee that every devotee receives prompt, high-quality medical attention throughout the sacred Brahmotsavam celebrations, ensuring a safe and spiritual experience for all.
