Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently unveiled 26 new books from the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation. In a significant boost to public learning, he also virtually inaugurated 146 new library buildings throughout the state, a project that collectively cost ₹39 crore.
Furthering the commitment to literary accessibility, the Chief Minister laid the groundwork for a new district central library in Kallakurichi, a sprawling 14,300 sq.ft. facility budgeted at ₹4 crore. The diverse collection of newly released books includes rare editions, nationalized works, and titles focusing on Tamil Nadu’s rich history and notable figures.
In a separate ceremony, Mr. Stalin virtually opened a new administrative building at the Guindy Industrial Estate. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 40,528 sq.ft. and built at a cost of ₹23.10 crore, will serve as the new head office for the Natural Resources Department.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to distribute appointment orders to recent recruits joining various departments, including the Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department, the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Limited, and the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, reinforcing the state’s workforce.
Several key ministers, including S. Regupathy, Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, attended these important events held at the Secretariat.
Student Gets House Under ‘Kalaignar Kanavu Illam’
During the ‘Kalviyil Sirantha Tamil Nadu’ event, Chief Minister Stalin issued an order to provide a house under the ‘Kalaignar Kanavu Illam’ program to Prema, a student whose poignant story highlighted the impact of the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ initiative. In a heartfelt social media message, Mr. Stalin expressed his joy: “Prema no longer needs to worry about her father living in a leaking house anymore. Your happiness in dedicating your first salary to your father, who supported your education despite societal resistance, was truly touching.” He concluded by stating, “I am delighted to issue orders for the construction of a house under the ‘Kalaignar Kanavu Illam’ program, fulfilling your father’s dream.”
