In a heartfelt ceremony held virtually on Friday, September 26, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute to two iconic figures from the state’s cultural landscape. He officially unveiled the new nameboards for ‘Jai Shankar Road’ in Nungambakkam, Chennai, and ‘S.V. Venkataraman Street’ in Mylapore.
The erstwhile ‘College Lane’ in Nungambakkam now proudly bears the name of the legendary Tamil actor, Jaishankar. Members of the late actor’s family were present at the Secretariat for the occasion, witnessing this honor bestowed upon their esteemed patriarch.
Similarly, ‘Mandavelipakkam 5th Cross Street’ in Mylapore has been renamed ‘S.V. Venkataraman Street’, recognizing the immense contributions of the late theatre artist. His son, well-known actor and politician S.V. Shekher, along with other family members, attended the ceremony to commemorate this significant moment.
This initiative by Chief Minister Stalin highlights the state’s commitment to acknowledging and preserving the legacies of individuals who have left an indelible mark on Tamil Nadu’s art, culture, and public life.
