Ooty MLA R. Ganesh, accompanied by fellow Congress party officials, recently met with Nilgiris Superintendent of Police N.S. Nisha. Their urgent request was clear: prevent AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami from holding any more public gatherings in the district until he publicly apologizes to TNCC President K. Selvaperunthagai.
This demand stems from controversial remarks Mr. Palaniswami made in Gudalur on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. During his speech, he reportedly disparaged Mr. Selvaperunthagai by describing him as a “person in need wearing patched clothes,” an apparent jab at his history of associating with various political parties.
In their official petition, the Nilgiris District Congress Committee vehemently condemned these comments. They emphasized that Mr. Palaniswami, despite his significant roles as Leader of the Opposition and a former Chief Minister, chose to utter disrespectful remarks against the TNCC President.
The petition not only sought punitive action against Mr. Palaniswami but also called for an immediate ban on his rallies. This ban, they insisted, should remain in effect until he issues an unconditional apology for his offensive statements.
