Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), the esteemed century-old public sector enterprise behind the globally recognized Mysore Sandal Soap, is embarking on an exciting new venture. The company proudly announced its role as the official “fragrance partner” and co-sponsor for Hombale Films’ Kantara – Chapter 1, starring the talented Rishab Shetty.
Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, shared this significant development, confirming that a formal agreement has been signed. This partnership ensures that KSDL’s beloved products will be prominently featured and promoted at every screening of the movie, both within India and internationally.
Highlighting the synergy between the two entities, Minister Patil pointed out the affectionate moniker for the Kannada film industry – “Sandalwood” – a perfect complement to KSDL’s legacy, deeply rooted in its famous sandal soap and exquisite sandalwood oil.
Kantara – Chapter 1 is slated for a grand release in October, reaching audiences in seven languages: Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, English, and Spanish. This ambitious cinematic offering will grace over 7,000 screens across India and more than 6,500 screens in 30 countries, providing an unparalleled platform for Mysore Sandal Soap’s global outreach.
For the past two years, KSDL has diligently focused on expanding its international presence, prioritizing exports while refining its packaging, branding, promotional strategies, and product quality. As part of these strategic efforts, popular actress Tamannaah Bhatia was recently appointed as the brand’s ambassador for a two-year term, further boosting its visibility.
KSDL Chairman Appaji Nadagouda reiterated the enduring appeal and global demand for Mysore Sandal Soap, a brand with over a century of rich heritage. He emphasized that cinema, as one of the most powerful and popular mediums, offers an exceptional opportunity for the enterprise to connect with a vastly wider audience and enhance its global footprint.
