Telangana’s Revenue Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has declared that the state government is giving paramount importance to safeguarding the land rights of farmers whose properties are being acquired for the new Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield National Highway. This firm stance underscores the administration’s dedication to its agricultural community.
On Thursday, the Minister personally oversaw the progress of the greenfield highway construction, specifically from the Muthagudem entry point to the Wyra exit point. He was accompanied by Khammam Collector Anudeep Durishetty. Following the inspection, Minister Reddy engaged directly with farmers in Muthagudem village, located in Penuballi mandal, listening to their issues and concerns firsthand.
During his interaction, he issued clear directives to relevant officials, emphasizing the need to resolve all farmer-related issues. He specifically called for the construction of essential approach roads at suitable locations along the district’s stretch of the new highway, utilizing available space efficiently.
Furthermore, Minister Reddy urged officials to implement effective measures to prevent agricultural fields from becoming submerged during periods of heavy rainfall and floods. He also proposed that the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) assign a dedicated officer for every five-kilometer segment of the road to conduct regular field inspections, particularly during the monsoon season.
The Minister stressed that completion certificates for the national highway works should only be issued after all issues raised by the farmers have been satisfactorily resolved and their interests fully protected. This commitment highlights the government’s resolve to ensure fair and equitable development.
