Get ready, Telangana! The Prohibition and Excise Department has officially announced the opening of applications for a whopping 2,620 new liquor shops across the state. This is a significant opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, with applications being accepted from September 26 to October 18, 2025. The eagerly awaited selection will happen via a lottery draw on October 23, 2025.
To throw your hat in the ring, each application comes with a non-refundable fee of ₹3 lakh. Remember to submit this fee via a demand draft or challan receipt along with your application form. It’s important to note that each individual is allowed to submit only one application, and you can choose any shop location you prefer.
In a move to ensure social equity, the department has also provisioned reservations: 15% of the shops are specifically set aside for the Goud community, 10% for Scheduled Caste (SC) applicants, and 5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants. If you’re applying under a reserved category, make sure to include your caste certificate with your application. Don’t worry if you don’t have it ready immediately; you have until November 15 to furnish it, provided you submit an undertaking letter beforehand.
All demand drafts or challans must be made out in the name of the respective District Prohibition and Excise Officer (DPO). You can submit your applications in person at the DPO office, the Deputy Commissioner’s office, or the Prohibition and Excise Commissioner’s office. A friendly reminder: applications sent through registered post or email will strictly not be entertained.
Once you submit your application, you’ll instantly receive a receipt along with an entry pass. This pass is your golden ticket, granting you access to participate in the lottery draw on October 23. Good luck!
