Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is celebrating a significant achievement, having been honored with both the ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ awards. These prestigious accolades were presented at the 26th National Award Ceremony for Excellence in Energy Management, hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This recognition wasn’t simply handed out; it came after a thorough evaluation of RGIA’s dedication to sustainable practices. The assessment looked at their cutting-edge energy projects, strong leadership in sustainability, strict compliance with ISO 50001:2018 energy management standards, and their active involvement with the community.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, proudly stated, “We hold the distinction of being the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certified airport in Asia. Our team is keenly aware of the critical need to safeguard our planet, and we are constantly working to fine-tune our operations to dramatically cut down on carbon emissions.”
