In a decisive move, the Telangana government has suspended three individuals following numerous complaints of them demanding money from beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme. These complaints, lodged via the dedicated toll-free helpline 1800-599-5991, highlighted blatant acts of corruption.
The suspensions came after specific reports from beneficiaries. Angoth Tulasi Bhai, an Indiramma beneficiary from Edulathanda, Nizamapet in Sangareddy district, accused Panchayat Secretary P. Mahboob Ali of demanding ₹10,000. This payment was allegedly required for uploading photographs of the house foundation, a crucial step for sanctioning payments. Similarly, Kalle Satyalu from Majidpur, Abdullapur mandal in Rangareddy district, reported that Panchayat Secretary Raghavendra was demanding a bribe of ₹20,000. Another incident involved Edul Bheemamma, a beneficiary from Tandur mandal in Nagar Kurnool district, who alleged that Indiramma committee member Chikkondra Mallesh, along with Edul Narayana, demanded ₹25,000.
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy confirmed the suspensions and stated that cases have also been filed against those involved. He emphasized that beneficiaries should not hesitate to report any irregularities on the toll-free number, assuring them that prompt action would be taken within 24 hours. The Minister reiterated that citizens can contact the Indiramma Call Centre at 1800-599-5991 to lodge their complaints.
