The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) took decisive action on Thursday, September 25, 2025, arresting a site engineer from the Telangana State Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC) in Jangaon district. The official was apprehended after being caught in the act of accepting an ₹8,000 bribe.
The individual, identified as Samala Ramesh, who was working as an outsourced site engineer in the Jangaon sub-division, was trapped at his office by the ACB Warangal unit. Investigations revealed that Mr. Ramesh had initially demanded a total of ₹18,000. This sum was allegedly for processing and forwarding the final bill related to the construction of a new science laboratory under the prestigious PM Shri Grant scheme at ZPHS, Kodakandla. It was uncovered that he had already received ₹10,000 of this amount through an online transaction. On Thursday, he was insistent on collecting the remaining ₹8,000, which ultimately led to his capture.
The bribe money was successfully recovered from his possession. Following his arrest, Mr. Ramesh was presented before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal, and further investigations are actively ongoing. The ACB continues to appeal to the public to play an active role in combating corruption. They encourage anyone witnessing or experiencing bribery to report it immediately by calling their toll-free number 1064 or by contacting them via their official social media channels. The bureau reassures all potential informants that their identities, as well as those of victims and complainants, will be kept strictly confidential.
