Preparations for the highly anticipated Cauvery Aarti ceremony reached a significant stage on Wednesday evening with a full rehearsal at the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam, just outside Mysuru. The event saw the active participation of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, alongside various elected representatives from the Mandya district and a host of senior government officials.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, who arrived in Mysuru earlier in the day, personally oversaw the inspection of the chosen venue at Brindavan Gardens, located within the KRS complex. This picturesque setting is slated to host the revered symbolic Aarti ceremony from September 26 to 30.
According to an official statement, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted a thorough review of the arrangements, paying close attention to the main stage, the precise spot designated for the Cauvery Aarti performance, and the seating layout for attendees. He emphasized to the officials the importance of meticulous planning to ensure the entire program unfolds seamlessly and without any hitches.
During the rehearsal, Ram Prasad Manohar, Chairman of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), provided a detailed explanation of the Cauvery Aarti ceremony’s structure and significance, all while Mr. Shivakumar closely observed the proceedings.
The inspection witnessed the presence of several key figures, including Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda (MLA, Srirangapatna), Dinesh Gooli Gowda (MLC), P. Ravikumar (MLA, Mandya), Kumar (Deputy Commissioner, Mandya), K.R. Nandini (CEO, Mandya Zilla Panchayat), and Mallikarjun Baladandi (Superintendent of Police, Mandya district), among other dignitaries.
Earlier, addressing the media, Mr. Shivakumar assured that the Cauvery Aarti program has received no opposition from the farming community. He reiterated that the ceremony is a heartfelt initiative to venerate and express gratitude to Mother Cauvery, praying for the prosperity and welfare of the region’s farmers.
