Good news for India’s economy and industrial growth! The Denmark-based Rockwool Group has confirmed that its brand-new, cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Cheyyar, a whopping ₹550 crore investment, is proceeding as planned and is expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2026.
This impressive Cheyyar plant is designed to be substantially larger than Rockwool’s current facility in Gujarat, solidifying its role as a crucial production center for the company across India. Construction is currently in full swing, with the project already halfway to completion.
Once fully operational, this facility is projected to generate over 150 direct employment opportunities, alongside a multitude of indirect jobs through a network of local suppliers, service providers, and supporting industries. This will undoubtedly deliver significant economic advantages and foster prosperity within the Cheyyar region and its surrounding communities.
The plant’s output will include a diverse array of stone wool insulation solutions, catering to general building structures, various industrial applications, and as core materials for high-performance sandwich panels. Darryl Mathews, Managing Director of Rockwool Asia, stated, “The rapid construction progress in Cheyyar underscores our enduring commitment to both India and the broader Asian market. This facility will empower us to effectively meet the escalating demand for energy-efficient and fire-safe building materials, all while creating valuable employment opportunities in the region.”
Adding to this sentiment, Vinay Pratap Singh, Business Unit Director of Rockwool India, commented, “India represents a pivotal market for Rockwool, and we are delighted to see our significant investment in Tamil Nadu progressing exactly as scheduled. The Cheyyar facility will considerably enhance our capacity to support India’s aspirations for sustainable growth. Upon becoming operational, this plant will not only amplify Rockwool’s footprint in India but also contribute directly to the economic and social advancement of the local communities it serves.”
