The 20th annual Dasara Flower Show has officially opened its gates at Mysuru’s beautiful Kukkarahalli Lake. This splendid event, inaugurated on Wednesday, truly enhances the festive spirit of the ongoing Dasara celebrations, painting the landscape with vibrant hues and captivating designs.
Jointly organized by the Department of Horticulture and the University of Mysore, the exhibition graces the eastern bund of Kukkarahalli Lake. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, N.K. Lokanath, had the honor of inaugurating this grand floral spectacle.
Until Dasara concludes on October 2, hundreds of daily visitors and morning walkers at the lake will have the delightful opportunity to witness a serene and extensive collection of blooms.
A unique highlight of this year’s show, as explained by the organizers, is a special section dedicated to various vegetables. Visitors can admire everything from vibrant beetroots and crisp knol-khol to cauliflowers, cabbages, carrots, radishes, beans, brinjal, okra, tomatoes, and an assortment of gourds including bottle gourd, ridge gourd, bitter gourd, snake gourd, and cucumber, alongside fresh cluster beans. Furthermore, a rich selection of leafy greens, such as ajwain leaves, mint, single-leaf spinach, palak, dill, coriander, and fenugreek, are also on display. This inclusion aims to underscore the significant nutritional benefits these vegetables offer.
Among the notable attendees at the inauguration were University Registrar M.K. Savitha and N. Chaluwesh, the Additional Assistant Director of Horticulture at Manasagangotri.
