In a pivotal traffic coordination meeting, the Cyberabad Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), laid out plans for significant improvements to the city’s road infrastructure. The primary focus areas discussed were essential road widening projects and the construction of new, safer footpaths for pedestrians.
Officials pinpointed several roads that are notorious for daily traffic bottlenecks, including the stretch from ITC Kohenur to the IKEA flyover, Lemon Tree to Trident Road, Cyber Towers flyover landing to Medicover Hospital, Vamsiram to Wipro junction, and ICICI junction to WaveRock Road. To alleviate these chokepoints, a key recommendation was to redesign 90-degree road intersections into 45-degree angles, aiming to smooth vehicle flow. Additionally, designated vending zones are proposed to reclaim sidewalk space currently occupied by hawkers, thus creating more room for pedestrians.
Beyond immediate congestion relief, the meeting also emphasized a comprehensive strategy to eliminate existing traffic bottlenecks and meticulously analyze vehicle movement during both peak and non-peak hours at major junctions. A critical step for smoother traffic flow and urban development involves relocating electrical poles and water pipelines that currently obstruct road expansion.
Pedestrian well-being received special attention, with detailed proposals for creating new footpaths in high-footfall areas and enhancing existing narrow stretches. Furthermore, identifying and proposing new link roads and alternative connectivity routes were reviewed to further decongest the main arterial roads.
Chaired by Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gajarao Bhupal, the meeting saw active participation from TGIIC VC and MD K. Shashanka, TGIIC Zonal Manager Kavitha, SCSC CEO Naved Khan, along with representatives from various private consultancy agencies and officials from the Cyberabad Traffic Police, all committed to transforming the city’s traffic landscape.
