Get ready for a smarter commute! The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is set to transform its operations with the power of Artificial Intelligence. This cutting-edge technology will not only optimize bus schedules but also intelligently analyze the health and performance of its dedicated workforce.
This exciting leap forward is made possible through a new partnership between the state-run transport body and Hansa Equity Partners. TGSRTC officials highlight that this AI integration promises a new era of enhanced efficiency, significant cost reductions, superior convenience for commuters, and a strong focus on employee well-being.
When it comes to bus scheduling, the AI system will take the reins, automating the entire process. By meticulously analyzing real-time demand, understanding intricate traffic patterns, and even predicting peak demand during festive seasons and weekly cycles, the AI models will ensure optimal fleet deployment, drastically cutting down on wasted resources.
Beyond route optimization, AI will also play a pivotal role in refining workforce management. By monitoring performance indicators, it aims to streamline operations even further, driving down costs and ensuring smoother, more effective service delivery.
This widespread AI adoption builds upon the success of a pilot health monitoring program. Previously, AI successfully analyzed worker health reports as part of a ‘grand health challenge.’ Now, with this new agreement, the initiative will be scaled up to benefit over 40,000 employees, ensuring comprehensive health oversight across the corporation.
Telangana’s Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, praised TGSRTC’s proactive vision, emphasizing that AI is undeniably shaping industries globally. V.C. Sajjanar, Vice-chairman and Managing Director, proudly announced that TGSRTC is pioneering this technological shift, becoming the first state-run transport undertaking to fully embrace AI.
This ambitious AI project is a natural progression from the highly successful Strategic Deployment Plan launched in 2021. That earlier plan laid the groundwork for modernizing the corporation, significantly improving passenger services, fostering digital transformation, and boosting financial stability, all of which are further amplified by this new AI integration.
