In a significant ruling, the Telangana High Court on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, issued an interim order, effectively suspending a previous single judge’s decision. This earlier order had invalidated the final marks and general ranking lists for the Group-I main examination, along with mandating a re-evaluation of all candidate answer scripts.
The interim direction was passed by a bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin. They heard appeals filed by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) and several ‘successful candidates’ who were impacted by the initial order. During the proceedings, legal representatives for the candidates who had originally filed writ petitions to cancel the Group-I exam and secured the single judge’s order requested the bench to maintain the status quo.

However, the Chief Justice-led bench declined to grant their pleas. The court explicitly stated that all appointments and subsequent decisions made by the TGPSC pertaining to the Group-I examination would be subject to the ultimate outcome of these ongoing appeal petitions. Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy and senior counsel D. Prakash Reddy presented arguments on behalf of the appellants, while senior counsel Rachna Reddy represented the petitioners who sought the exam’s cancellation.

Following a thorough hearing of contentions from both sides, the bench directed all involved parties to file their detailed written submissions by October 10. The entire matter has now been formally scheduled for a comprehensive and detailed hearing on October 15.
