Exciting news from Kerala! The International Ayurveda Research Institute in Kannur is on track to complete its state-of-the-art hospital block and a dedicated manuscript centre by December. Health Minister Veena George highlighted the institute as a landmark achievement, poised to revolutionize the Ayurveda sector within the state.
During the recent Ayurveda Day celebrations, Minister George officially inaugurated 12 new AYUSH projects, collectively valued at ₹14.39 crore. These initiatives are set to enhance traditional healthcare across Kerala.
The upcoming hospital, an integral part of the Ayurveda research institute, will feature 100 beds, significantly boosting patient care capacity.
Furthermore, the Minister announced the imminent launch of a National AYUSH training institute. The government is fast-tracking these developments, recognizing that robust research infrastructure is vital for the continued growth and advancement of Ayurveda.
A key focus for the administration is the enhancement of both the overall quality of care and specialized services available through Ayurveda.
To ensure credibility and excellence, the government plans to implement standardization and accreditation for wellness sector initiatives, along with rigorous quality evaluations for Ayurveda certificate courses.
Accessible Ayurveda Eye Care Expands Across Kerala
Good news for eye health: Ayurveda eye care treatments are now accessible in every district of Kerala. This expanded reach was achieved by modernizing existing Ayurveda eye care facilities and establishing six new ‘Drishti’ units.
In a significant step towards maternal health, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed for ‘Soothikamithram’, a training program designed to equip women with skills for providing Ayurveda-based postpartum care. The agreement was formalized by D. Sajith Babu, State Director of the National AYUSH Mission, and T.D. Sreekumar, Director of Ayurveda Medical Education.
The event saw the attendance of several senior officials from both the Health and AYUSH departments, underscoring the collaborative effort behind these initiatives.
