Kochi witnessed a deeply saddening event today as a 73-year-old cyclist lost his life in a severe road accident. The unfortunate incident took place around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, along the Medical College-HMT Road, directly opposite St. Paul’s College in Kalamassery.
The victim has been identified as K. Raghavan, a resident of Thrikkakara. Following the collision, the Kalamassery police promptly registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Charges have been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, specifically Section 281, which addresses rash or negligent driving, and Section 106 (1), concerning death caused by a rash or negligent act. This heartbreaking incident underscores the urgent need for heightened awareness and improved safety protocols on our roads to protect vulnerable commuters.
