Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) has officially partnered with GAIL Gas Limited to bring a state-of-the-art City Gas Distribution (CGD) facility to Bengaluru Airport City. This significant collaboration is set to transform the region into a hub for sustainable energy.
The ambitious project envisions a comprehensive clean energy ecosystem, featuring a modern Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station, widespread Piped Natural Gas (PNG) installations, and an array of other innovative green energy solutions. Beyond providing essential fuel services, the station will also offer convenient non-fuel retail options for residents and visitors alike.
This initiative is strategically designed to bolster CNG infrastructure for a diverse range of vehicles, including taxis, buses, logistics fleets, and last-mile connectivity services, both within and around the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). By doing so, Bengaluru Airport City aims to become a shining example of how sustainable energy can be seamlessly integrated into vibrant urban and commercial environments.
Rao Munukutla, Executive Director & CEO of Bengaluru Airport City Limited, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The forthcoming City Gas Distribution facility by GAIL Gas within Bengaluru Airport City represents a pivotal moment in India’s journey towards a cleaner energy future. Our airport city has already earned the esteemed IGBC Green Cities Platinum Rating, and this new development further solidifies our role as pioneers in sustainable urban innovation. We are not merely constructing infrastructure; we are cultivating a robust sustainable energy and mobility ecosystem that will establish new standards for green development, extending far beyond the airport itself.”
Echoing this sentiment, Goutom Chakraborty, Chief Executive Officer of GAIL Gas Limited, emphasized their commitment: “GAIL Gas remains at the forefront of championing eco-friendly and economically viable natural gas solutions. The establishment of this CNG station in Bengaluru Airport City will be a tremendous asset, offering thousands of vehicles easy access to CNG refueling for their commutes to and from the airport. Our dedication to making Bengaluru a cleaner, greener city continues steadfastly.”
