A three-storey house collapsed in Indore’s Ranipura area on Monday night following heavy rains. Eleven people were rescued from the debris and admitted to a government hospital, while at least two are feared trapped, officials said.
The rescued individuals have been admitted to Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Hospital. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, while the remaining seven are in stable condition, according to Arvind Ghanghoria, dean of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College.
Emergency services, including police and administration teams, are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations at the scene. The collapsed building is believed to be between 8 to 10 years old, as per preliminary information from Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava. He also noted that a portion of the building fell onto an adjacent property.
Eyewitnesses reported that power supply to the Ranipura area was cut off as a precautionary measure to facilitate the rescue efforts. Authorities are also working to manage the crowds of onlookers to ensure the smooth progression of operations.
