Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued clear directives to officials: utilize government lands recently recovered from encroachments to establish new schools equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern amenities.
He urged officials to identify existing government educational institutions across all municipalities and corporations, focusing on providing high-quality education from nursery to fourth standard. The Chief Minister suggested consolidating multiple schools with limited facilities, believing this approach would significantly improve outcomes by addressing teacher shortages, ensuring nutritious food for students, and ultimately alleviating financial strain on parents.
During a comprehensive review meeting on Monday, the Chief Minister discussed development strategies for the core urban region with high-ranking officials from various departments. Senior bureaucrat Jayesh Ranjan presented a detailed development model, which systematically categorized and addressed 111 key issues.
The Chief Minister emphasized that development efforts in the urban core must prioritize critical human development indicators such as education, public health, road transport, and sanitation. He articulated his vision for the region to embody a “global city” under the ‘Telangana Rising’ initiative, equipped with world-class basic amenities. Acknowledging the influx of millions of families into Greater Hyderabad, he stressed the importance of aligning development with their expectations for superior living standards.
He issued a strict directive, stating that “not a single government office in the core urban region should operate from rented premises.” He instructed officials to prioritize allocating government lands for new office constructions. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of establishing specialized clinics to ensure that quality medical facilities are accessible to the underprivileged.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister called for all government offices, including the State Secretariat, to adopt renewable energy sources, specifically mandating the installation of solar plants on their premises. He also stressed the importance of protecting and maintaining natural water bodies like nalas, tanks, and lakes, and safeguarding vacant government lands through the implementation of digital databases.
Mr. Revanth Reddy also advocated for a thorough study of the city’s traffic challenges, proposing the installation of modern signal systems to alleviate frequent congestion. He instructed that all major junctions in the urban core be integrated with the Integrated Command Control Centres. Moreover, he suggested that the police department explore implementing “drone policing” to manage traffic effectively, especially in high-density areas.
