Hyderabad’s renowned Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has officially teamed up with the dedicated non-profit organization, Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), to dramatically improve and expand its patient care and support offerings.
This new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) solidifies their existing collaboration, which focuses on providing essential helpdesk services to assist low-income and disadvantaged patients seeking medical attention at the state-run hospital.
As part of this initiative, HHF will now manage six helpdesks strategically located throughout the hospital. These include two in the Emergency Block, and one each in the Millennium Block, Old OPD Block, and Speciality Block. Each helpdesk will be staffed by a team of six expertly trained counsellors. Their role is to offer comprehensive navigational guidance, assist patients with their ABHA registration under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and ensure they are directed to the correct departments for their specific needs.
Furthermore, a dedicated counsellor has been stationed within the Emergency Department to specifically assist patients in transitioning to Aarogyasri health coverage and to guide them through the application process for financial aid available through various State and Central government health schemes. To ensure seamless communication and rapid response, a dedicated patient assistance helpline has also been established, facilitating swift intra-hospital referrals and allowing departments to easily request support whenever needed.
