The much-awaited Navaratri celebrations have commenced with breathtaking splendor at the sacred Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam. Monday marked the glorious inauguration, where dedicated temple priests performed a series of special prayers. Devotees were captivated by the divine sight of Goddess Bhramaramba, adorned magnificently in her ‘Saila Putri Avataram’, followed by the traditional ‘Vahana Seva’ in the evening.
The entire temple town radiated with brilliant illuminations, creating an enchanting atmosphere that drew in large crowds. The temple management, in close collaboration with the district administration and local police, had meticulously planned and executed elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and joyous conduct of these auspicious festivities.
The day’s spiritual journey began with essential morning rituals, including ‘Yagasala Pravesam’, ‘Ganapati Puja’, and ‘Sankalpam’. Temple Executive Officer (EO) M. Srinivasa Rao, along with esteemed Vedic priests, actively participated in these sacred ceremonies. EO Srinivasa Rao announced that a special ‘Kumari Puja’ would be held daily throughout the Navaratri period, honoring young girls with offerings of fruits, vegetables, and new clothes—a cherished tradition embodying the reverence for childhood during these nine nights.
As dusk fell, Goddess Bhramaramba, resplendent in her Saila Putri form, bestowed her blessings upon the eager devotees. Subsequently, the processional idols were carried on the ‘Brungi Vahanam’ through the beautifully decorated mada streets, enchanting all who witnessed the divine procession. A multitude of devotees thronged the temple on this inaugural day, eager to partake in the spiritual experience.
To ensure the comfort and convenience of all visitors, the temple authorities have implemented extensive facilities. These include well-organized queue lines, comfortable waiting compartments, provision for ‘annaprasadam’ (sacred food), ample water supply, secure cloakrooms, chappal stands, and clean toilet facilities. Furthermore, all necessary provisions and safety measures have been meticulously put in place at the sacred bathing ghats along the picturesque River Krishna.
