In a touching display of empathy and swift action, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy intervened after learning of former Deputy Superintendent of Police Nalini’s severe health struggles. Just a day after Ms. Nalini shared her agonizing battle with a debilitating illness on social media, the Chief Minister instructed Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri District Collector Hanumanth Rao to personally visit her and assure her of the government’s full support for her medical expenses.
Collector Hanumanth Rao promptly traveled to Bhongir town, where Ms. Nalini resides with her father. He conveyed the Chief Minister’s heartfelt message, promising that the government would extend all necessary assistance for her treatment and that any pending service-related issues would be resolved in accordance with regulations.
While Ms. Nalini expressed her gratitude for the government’s generous offer, she respectfully declined hospital admission, stating her preference for Ayurvedic medication. Mr. Hanumanth Rao later informed reporters that she is currently undergoing Ayurvedic treatment and indicated that she is welcome to reconsider hospital care at any time.
The Chief Minister had also offered to reimburse her previous medical expenditures. However, Ms. Nalini clarified that her expenses on Ayurvedic and traditional medicines had been minimal, thus declining the reimbursement as well.
Ms. Nalini is a notable figure who resigned from her DSP position in 2011 at the height of the Telangana statehood movement, demonstrating solidarity with the cause. Upon the Congress government assuming power in 2023, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already directed the police department to review her case for potential reinstatement. At that time, Ms. Nalini had publicly announced her transition to a spiritual life, dedicating herself to promoting Indian spiritual and religious practices.
