Prime Minister Modi’s Vision for Northeast India: Unveiling Progress and Addressing Past Challenges
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made a pivotal visit to Arunachal Pradesh, underscoring his government’s steadfast commitment to the development of India’s Northeast. During his visit, PM Modi proudly inaugurated a series of ambitious projects valued at more than ₹5,100 crore, designed to enhance the region’s infrastructure and economic landscape. Among these significant undertakings are crucial hydropower projects in Shi Yomi and a cutting-edge convention center in Tawang, promising to usher in a new era of progress for the state.
Beyond the formal inaugurations, Prime Minister Modi actively engaged with local entrepreneurs, showcasing his administration’s dedication to fostering indigenous talent and businesses. He highlighted the transformative impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, aiming to simplify economic processes, and passionately reiterated his call for the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, encouraging citizens to support and promote local products and industries.
In a direct address, PM Modi did not shy away from criticizing the Indian National Congress. He accused the opposition party of a historical failure to prioritize development in the strategically important Northeast. According to the Prime Minister, the Congress party’s tendency to abandon projects deemed ‘difficult’ had resulted in significant and lasting harm to the region, impeding its growth and potential.
The event, marking a crucial step in Arunachal Pradesh’s developmental journey, was graced by the presence of several esteemed officials, including Governor KT Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, signifying broad support for the initiatives.
