The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is currently spearheading a series of awareness initiatives across the state to encourage wider enrollment of employees under its ‘Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees’ (SPREE–2025).
T. Renuka Prasad, the Insurance Commissioner for Information and Communication Technology, highlighted the extensive benefits available through schemes like SPREE, Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY), and Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyana Yojana (RGSKY). These programs offer vital support such as unemployment allowance, cash benefits during illness, post-retirement medical care, and comprehensive maternity benefits for female employees.
During recent awareness campaigns in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Renuka Prasad urged industrialists, factory owners, hospital and school managements, and other establishment heads to prioritize the timely registration of their units and employees under the ESI Act.
He further emphasized that children of insured individuals could secure admissions into medical, postgraduate (PG), and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses at medical colleges with a nominal fee. Moreover, enrolled employees and their families are entitled to broad medical and financial assistance.
The Insurance Commissioner recently met with ESIC Regional Director Malla Rama Rao, State Medical Director Dr. R. Pradeep Kumar, and other officials to review the progress of employer and employee enrollments under the ESI Act.
Mr. Rama Rao reported that Andhra Pradesh currently has 69,632 establishments, including various industries and factories. ESIC officers and staff are actively engaged in ongoing campaigns to promote SPREE and other related schemes within these sectors.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar encouraged employees seeking more information to reach out to ESIC for further details on available benefits.
