Jharkhand’s Political Storm: BJP Leader Babulal Marandi Predicts Hemant Soren’s Downfall Amidst Corruption Allegations

Babulal Marandi, president of the Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and current Leader of the Opposition, delivered a strong statement on Monday, September 22, 2025. He accused individuals ‘looting’ the state of operating under the direct influence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta, whom he controversially labeled ‘illegal’.

Marandi took to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to highlight a specific case: Rajesh Ram, a person currently out on bail and actively sought by Ramgarh police, was reportedly seen making frequent visits to the DGP’s office without facing arrest. This raised serious questions about police conduct.

Further pressing his claims, Marandi alleged that during Rajesh Ram’s initial arrest, Inspector Ganesh Singh communicated with the Bhurkunda police station in-charge. Marandi insinuated that Ganesh, enjoying the ‘blessings’ of the ‘illegal DGP,’ was, in fact, a crucial part of the DGP’s team dedicated to ‘illegal resource collection.’

The BJP leader also brought forth information about a viral audio recording. This recording allegedly revealed Ranjit Rana, a constable at the police headquarters and a close associate of the DGP, attempting to reach out to an Odisha businessman. This was the same businessman from whom Rajesh Ram supposedly extorted ₹65 lakh.

Marandi emphasized that while these revelations might sound like a dramatic film plot, they represented ‘the truth’ of the situation.

He concluded his accusations by stating, ‘Rajesh, Ganesh, Rana, Deepak, and numerous other masterminds are merely players in this elaborate scheme of plunder. They are executing their illegal activities directly under the command of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the “illegal DGP.”‘

Marandi directly challenged Chief Minister Soren, demanding to know his personal stake in these alleged illegal extortions.

The former Chief Minister further asserted that influential figures involved in a liquor scam, ranging from Chhattisgarh to NCR Delhi, who secured bail due to delays in filing chargesheets, are rumored to have illicitly gained over ₹100 crore.

Marandi pointed out that this wasn’t the first time; Chief Minister Soren had previously remained silent when names of individuals implicated in similar illegal activities were brought to light.

Issuing a stern warning to the Jharkhand Chief Minister, Marandi stated, ‘Mark my words. While justice may take its course, you will eventually face accountability and punishment for these extensive scams. Consider the case of Lalu Prasad; it took two decades, yet he faced consequences. As the saying goes, if you plant an acacia tree, you will inevitably be pricked by its thorns.’
