On Monday, September 22, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Fire and Rescue Services Academy. This significant facility, planned for Kalavakkam in Chengalpattu district, is being developed with an investment of ₹21 crore. Once completed, it will be equipped to train approximately 300 personnel and will boast a dedicated parade ground, as confirmed in an official statement.
During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated several newly built classrooms and hostels spread across various locations, projects collectively costing ₹3.94 crore. Additionally, he initiated new foundational work for future projects slated for a total expenditure of ₹61.44 crore. Minister Siva V. Meyyanathan attended these inauguration ceremonies.
Further demonstrating the government’s commitment to public services, Mr. Stalin inaugurated substantial new projects for the Police Department, representing an investment of ₹97 crore. Separately, he also launched new initiatives for the Fire and Rescue Department, valued at ₹3 crore.
Highlighting the promotion of sports, Chief Minister Stalin, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Minister T.R.B. Rajaa, personally handed over appointment orders to four accomplished sportspersons. These individuals secured positions in various government departments and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) through the dedicated 3% reservation for the sports quota.
At a separate function held at the Secretariat, Mr. Stalin extended appointments to new officials joining the Tamil Development Department. This ceremony saw the participation of Minister M.P. Saminathan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and other high-ranking officials.
Finally, at Kalaivanar Arangam, the Chief Minister proudly distributed appointment orders to more than 1,200 newly recruited village health nurses, bolstering the state’s healthcare workforce. Notable attendees included Ministers Ma. Subramanian and P.K. Sekarbabu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, and other esteemed senior officials.
