Mavala police have made significant arrests in a high-profile land fraud case in Adilabad town, taking into custody three individuals, including two government employees. The accused are implicated in an alleged scheme to illegally seize seven residential plots in Sai Nagar, valued at over ₹2 crore, by using forged documents and illicit double registration practices.
The arrested individuals have been identified as N. Venkataramana (59) and B. Sanjeev Kumar (49), both employed by the government, along with Ushka Malla Raghupathi (43), a former sarpanch of Mavala. All three are residents of Adilabad.
Authorities are still searching for a fourth suspect, Duppalapudi Ashok, who served as the sub-registrar at the time of the alleged crimes.
Investigations reveal that the arrested trio conspired with Ashok, the then Adilabad sub-registrar, to fraudulently execute the double registration of the seven plots. These properties legitimately belonged to a person based in Maharashtra, and the illegal transaction was carried out in 2024 using counterfeit documents.
It is further alleged that the three accused bribed Ashok with ₹7 lakh to facilitate this fraudulent land deal.
The elaborate land scam came to light after the rightful owner, Milind, filed a complaint through the “Message Your SP” initiative, prompting a thorough police investigation.
The detailed inquiry led directly to the apprehension of the three individuals now facing charges in connection with this large-scale fraud.
Police efforts are continuing to locate and arrest the absconding former sub-registrar, Ashok, to bring him to justice.
