Get ready for a dazzling spectacle! The city of Shivamogga is set to erupt in joy with its highly anticipated 11-day Dasara festivities, kicking off this Monday. The grand inauguration will be graced by the venerable (Retd.) Lt. Gen. Baggavalli Somashekhar Raju, a proud son of Chikkamagaluru district, who will offer sacred prayers at the Kote Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple to mark the auspicious beginning.
The Shivamogga City Corporation has meticulously curated an extensive program designed to enchant everyone. Over these glorious 11 days, the city will host a diverse range of activities, ensuring there’s something special for children, women, farmers, film buffs, theatre enthusiasts, talented artists, and musicians alike. It’s a true celebration of community and culture!
Details of the exciting lineup were shared by Shivamogga MLA S.N. Channabasappa. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits:
- September 23 (Tuesday): The adorable “Makkala Dasara” will begin, dedicated to the youngest members of our community.
- September 24: “Ranga Dasara” will bring vibrant theatrical performances to life.
- September 25: “Raitha Dasara” will honor and engage our invaluable farming community.
- September 26: Prepare for laughter at “Nagehabba,” a special humor program held at the historic Shivappa Nayaka Palace premises.
- September 27: “Karmikara Dasara” will celebrate the hardworking individuals of Shivamogga.
- September 28: A day dedicated to well-being with “Yoga Dasara,” followed by “Patrakartara Dasara” for our media professionals. The evening will culminate in a spectacular “Musical Night” at Allama Prabhu Park, featuring none other than celebrated actor Shivaraj Kumar!
- September 29 & 30: Engaging competitions will be held to involve the general public in the festive spirit.
- October 1: A mesmerizing dance program is planned.
- October 2: The grand finale will feature the majestic howdah procession, bringing the celebrations to a spectacular close.
Adding to the splendor, three magnificent elephants from the Sakrebail elephant camp – Sagara, Balanna, and Kunthi – will be part of the revered procession, with Sagara proudly carrying the howdah. This year’s Dasara promises to be an unforgettable experience, brimming with cultural richness and community spirit.
