Nandyal police demonstrated remarkable responsiveness by undertaking a crucial rescue operation on Saturday morning. They successfully saved the lives of passengers and staff from a private bus that found itself stranded amidst the surging waters of a local tank in Uyyalawada mandal.
The incident involved a PRL Travels bus, which was en route from Hyderabad to Pulivendula. It became immovably stuck in the floodwaters near Govindapalle. A total of 35 individuals were onboard, including a number of children, all facing a perilous situation.
A distress call to the ‘100’ emergency helpline prompted immediate action. Uyyalawada sub-inspector Rami Reddy quickly mobilized resources, bringing in JCBs and tractors to the site. After an intense two-and-a-half-hour effort, all passengers were safely evacuated. Following this, a crane was utilized to successfully pull the bus from the treacherous waters.
