This past Saturday, in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day, officials from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board spearheaded vital cleanliness drives across the beautiful beaches of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. The initiative aimed to not only clear debris but also foster a deeper sense of responsibility towards our precious marine environments.
In Srikakulam mandal, a vibrant rally and engaging awareness programs were led by Environmental Engineer Karuna Sri at Peddaganagallapet beach. Simultaneously, in Vizianagaram district, Environmental Engineer B.B. Sarita and Ritesh Yadav, the Nodal Officer from the Forest Department, orchestrated a thorough clean-up effort at Chintapalli beach in Pusapatirega mandal.
During these events, a powerful appeal was made to both students and the local fishing community, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining impeccable cleanliness along the coast. Beyond immediate clean-up, a thoughtful plantation drive was also undertaken near the beach areas to enhance ecological balance. Ms. Sarita further extended her plea to tourists, urging them to make a conscious effort to eliminate single-use plastic bottles and cups when enjoying the state’s picturesque beaches and other popular destinations.
