Karnataka’s Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, N.S. Boseraju, recently conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing airport project situated on the outskirts of Raichur, specifically in Yaramaras village. During his Saturday visit, Minister Boseraju meticulously inspected crucial aspects of the development, including the flight terminal building, electrical safety measures, and the main runway, ensuring all work is progressing as planned.
Assuring that funding would not be an obstacle to the project’s timely completion, the Minister highlighted significant milestones already achieved. He noted that the construction of the boundary wall around the airport premises is nearly finished, while vital work on the runway and control tower is actively underway. Furthermore, he addressed concerns regarding land acquisition, confirming that individuals affected by the project have been adequately compensated with alternative five-area land parcels for their housing needs. Steps are also being taken to acquire any additional land required.
Mr. Boseraju emphasized the critical importance of the Raichur airport in significantly enhancing aviation facilities for a diverse range of beneficiaries. This includes the general public, employees of key institutions like RTPS and YTPS, university staff and students, private sector personnel, and notably, pilgrims traveling to the revered site of Mantralayam. The Minister expressed optimism that the proposed Raichur airport would effectively meet the growing demand for air travel in the region, with an ambitious target for its completion set by next year’s Dasara festival.
Accompanying the Minister during the inspection were several key officials, including City Corporation Commissioner Jubin Mohapatra, Raichur Sub-Division Assistant Commissioner Gajanan Bale, and engineers from the Public Works Department, among others.
