The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a direct challenge to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, urging him to pivot his attention squarely towards effective governance and administrative duties. The party emphasized that the Chief Minister should desist from the practice of attributing the state’s challenges to the Central government.
BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao articulated the party’s concerns, stating, “This constant blame game is detrimental to Telangana’s progress. The Chief Minister must shoulder responsibility for his government’s performance.” While acknowledging the legitimacy of requesting central funds and projects, Rao pressed Reddy on unfulfilled election pledges, specifically highlighting the incomplete rollout of the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme, the absence of promised stipends for unemployed youth, and the lack of new job opportunities.
Speaking to reporters at the party’s state headquarters, Mr. Rao sarcastically noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had made “a half-century” of trips to Delhi, yet paradoxically, he continued to criticize the BJP and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
Rao also drew attention to a critical administrative issue, stating that Telangana has been without a full complement of Group 1 officers for 11 years, a situation he blamed on the previous BRS government’s negligence. He warned that this shortage of experienced state cadre civil servants poses a serious risk of creating an “administrative vacuum” within the state.
Furthermore, Mr. Rao sharply criticized Revanth Reddy’s suggestion of dialogue with Maoists. He reiterated the Central government’s unequivocal ‘no talks’ policy, emphasizing that Naxalites are expected to surrender their arms. Drawing a parallel, he asserted that the BJP views Left-wing extremism with the same gravity as cross-border terrorism. Rao questioned the sources of weapons and funding for Maoist groups, recalling that past talks initiated by a Congress government had only resulted in an increase in armed confrontations.
The former MLC conceded that there were shortcomings in the Election Commission’s process of maintaining accurate voter lists, yet he firmly maintained that widespread “vote theft” is fundamentally impossible.
He accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of unnecessarily alarming the public regarding voter lists. Rao called upon the Election Commission to streamline the process of identifying and removing both bogus and duplicate voters to ensure the integrity of the electoral rolls.
Finally, Mr. Rao confirmed that the BJP would announce its candidate for the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election once the party’s election committee has been duly constituted.
