The banned CPI (Maoist) group’s Telangana State committee has officially disavowed a recent statement by central committee member Sonu, who had suggested a ‘temporary suspension of armed struggle.’ In a statement released on Friday, September 19, 2025, official spokesperson Jagan clarified that Sonu’s remarks were purely personal and did not represent the party’s official stance.
Jagan criticized Sonu’s statement, noting it was ill-timed, coming amidst ‘Operation Kagar,’ a military offensive by the Centre aimed at eradicating the Maoist party through brutal repression. This operation, he highlighted, continued despite appeals from intellectuals and various organizations for its immediate cessation.
The spokesperson also pointed out the significant losses faced by the party, with 28 comrades, including the general secretary, having been martyred earlier this year on May 21.
Jagan emphasized that the immediate priority for the CPI (Maoist) is to implement the circular issued by its Polit Bureau in 2024 and intensify their fight against what he termed the ‘fascist BJP’s anti-people policies.’
Meanwhile, police sources are currently verifying the authenticity of the statement attributed to Maoist leader Jagan.
