In a decisive move against alleged corruption, vigilance department officials recently descended upon the Regional Fire Office in Palakkad, Kerala. The raid successfully uncovered and seized ₹13,590 in unaccounted cash, intensifying a probe into widespread bribery complaints.
The operation was initiated following numerous accusations against Regional Fire Officer K.K. Shiju. He stands accused of systematically soliciting bribes, often through intermediaries, in exchange for issuing crucial fire clearance certificates required for various buildings. Shiju’s extensive purview includes not only Palakkad but also the Thrissur and Malappuram districts.
Authorities are now meticulously investigating these allegations to bring transparency and accountability to the department and ensure that justice is served.
