Telangana and New Jersey have officially committed to a broad-ranging partnership, aiming for robust collaboration and mutual exchange across key sectors. This includes advancements in software and technology, breakthroughs in life sciences, modernizing urban transportation, and fostering growth in the film industry.
This significant agreement emerged from a productive meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, held recently in New Delhi during the Public Affairs Forum of India’s annual conclave.
Governor Murphy expressed strong endorsement for Chief Minister Reddy’s ‘TelanganaRising’ vision, highlighting the numerous parallels between the two regions. He emphasized their collective potential to drive substantial economic transformation for both economies.
Their discussions primarily focused on facilitating reciprocal trade delegations and boosting investments. The goal is to unlock maximum potential for economic prosperity and generate new employment opportunities in both Telangana and New Jersey.
Governor Murphy specifically pledged New Jersey’s support for Hyderabad’s urban and public transport infrastructure, leveraging the expertise of the New Jersey transit authority. Chief Minister Reddy noted that this signifies substantial backing for Hyderabad’s public transportation, from its Metro system to the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS).
Furthermore, Chief Minister Reddy extended an invitation to prestigious educational institutions, including Princeton, NJIT, and Rutgers, encouraging them to consider establishing offshore campuses in Hyderabad. He assured them full support for any such initiatives. The two states also finalized an agreement to jointly promote and develop their respective film industries and tourism sectors.
