Randeep Singh Surjewala, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary overseeing Karnataka affairs, recently held a pivotal meeting with the State Guarantee Committee. During this session, which included the chairman and five vice-chairpersons, Surjewala emphasized the critical need to ensure that the benefits of various government schemes genuinely reach the common populace. He specifically instructed the five newly appointed chairpersons, each responsible for a city corporation within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), to rigorously monitor the implementation of these guarantees.
Sources indicate that Surjewala’s directive comes with a clear focus on the upcoming GBA elections. He tasked State Guarantee Committee Chairman H.M. Revanna and the five newly assigned chairpersons with actively collecting feedback directly from beneficiaries. This crucial feedback is then to be compiled into a comprehensive report and submitted to him, ensuring accountability and responsiveness.
Furthermore, Surjewala conveyed a significant message from the party high command to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He urged them to expedite the appointments of chairpersons to various state boards and corporations. Insiders within the Congress party suggest that both leaders have committed to completing these appointments within the span of a week, indicating a swift response to the high command’s guidance.
