In a significant stride towards modernizing the state’s transportation network, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially launched the Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority (TANSHA) this past Friday. During a special ceremony held at the Highways Research Station campus in Chennai, the Chief Minister not only unveiled TANSHA’s new logo but also inaugurated the impressive Kalaignar Centenary Building, a project completed at a cost of ₹29 crore.
This newly constructed facility, spanning a vast 5,500 square meters in Guindy, will serve as the primary headquarters for TANSHA and other crucial divisions within the Highways Department. Established in 2024, the Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority is poised to spearhead major road infrastructure initiatives, including the development of critical four-lane corridors and expressways, with a strong emphasis on public-private partnerships.
The inaugural event was graced by numerous dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers E.V. Velu, S. Regupathy, KR. Periakaruppan, R.S. Rajakannappan, and Ma. Subramanian, as well as Mayor R. Priya, South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian, MLAs A.M.V. Prabhakara Raja, and other senior government officials, highlighting the collective commitment to enhancing Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure.
