The Karnataka Lokayukta has initiated a decisive move, registering a suo motu case against all 18 Tehsildars across Belagavi district. These officials are facing charges of severe maladministration and dereliction of duty, specifically for their failure to deliver promised services to the region’s ex-servicemen.
Sources within the Lokayukta indicate that similar actions are now being extended to all other districts. This comprehensive effort stems from numerous complaints lodged by the descendants and next of kin of ex-servicemen, who alleged that Revenue Department officials had consistently neglected to provide privileged services, including the distribution of land sites and other crucial government benefits.
During their thorough investigations, Lokayukta officers uncovered a pervasive pattern of inconvenience and injustice affecting ex-servicemen’s families throughout the state. Consequently, senior officers have issued clear directives to all Lokayukta Superintendents of Police in every district, instructing them to proactively initiate suo motu cases to ensure justice and proper service delivery for these deserving citizens, as stated in an official release.
