As Mysuru gears up for the grand Dasara celebrations, the local police department is stepping up its efforts to combat the spread of misinformation online. To ensure a peaceful and joyous festival, authorities are significantly boosting the strength of their Social Media Monitoring Cell.
City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar announced during a press conference on Friday that a dedicated team of 52 additional personnel will be diligently scrutinizing social media platforms. Their primary objective is to identify and curb the circulation of fake news, ensuring that anyone found responsible for such activities will face stringent legal consequences.
Commissioner Latkar also issued a stern warning against the irresponsible sharing of old videos and misleading reels, emphasizing that such content can create unnecessary panic among the public. She urged everyone to exercise caution and responsibility when posting online, highlighting the importance of refraining from any actions that could foster negativity or anxiety through fabricated stories and outdated visuals during the festive period.
