A demanding deadline of just one and a half months has been established for the completion of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar. Additionally, the multi-specialty hospital project in Warangal is expected to be finalized by the close of this year.
These directives were put forth by Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha during a comprehensive review meeting held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad on Friday, September 19, 2025. The meeting assessed progress on various critical healthcare initiatives, including works at TIMS facilities in Sanathnagar, L.B. Nagar, and Alwal, as well as the expansion of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and new medical colleges across several districts.
Minister Narasimha emphasized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision for TIMS Sanathnagar to be fully operational before the year concludes, instructing Roads and Buildings department officials to ensure its completion by the end of October. While construction at Sanathnagar is reportedly in its final stages, officials disclosed that the health facilities in Alwal and L.B. Nagar would require an additional six months for completion.
To ensure readiness, Mr. Narasimha specifically instructed Health Department Secretary Christina Chongthu to oversee the timely procurement of all essential equipment, furniture, and other resources. This is crucial for TIMS Sanathnagar to commence medical services immediately upon its inauguration. Furthermore, Director of Medical Education A. Narendra Kumar received directions to expedite the recruitment of doctors, nurses, and other vital healthcare professionals.
Addressing the needs of future medical professionals, the Minister also called for the inclusion of postgraduate student hostels as part of the NIMS expansion plans. Roads and Buildings officials also confirmed that new medical colleges in Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jangaon, and Wanaparthy are slated for handover within the next two months, further bolstering the state’s medical infrastructure.
