H. Y. Meti, a prominent Congress MLA and former minister, sadly passed away in Bengaluru on November 4th at the age of 79. He had been receiving medical care at a private hospital in the city for several days prior to his demise.
Meti was a well-known figure, having proudly represented the Bagalkot Assembly constituency in north Karnataka during his political career.
His distinguished service included terms in the Legislative Assembly in both 1989 and 2004. Notably, he held the portfolio of Excise Minister in the previous Siddaramaiah-led government from 2013 to 2018.
In 2024, Meti took on another significant role as the chairperson of the Bagalkot Urban Development Authority, continuing his commitment to public service.
