Following the sexual assault of a college student near Coimbatore airport, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Saravana Sundar confirmed the arrest of three accused individuals. According to an ANI report on Tuesday, the arrests were made by the police. However, during the apprehension process, the police were compelled to shoot the three accused in the legs as they attempted to flee.
“The accused were trying to escape from the spot when the police had to shoot them in the leg in Vellakinaru, on the outskirts of Coimbatore city. The injured accused have been identified as Guna, Karuppasamy, and Karthik alias Kaleeswaran. All the injured accused have been transported to GH Coimbatore. A head constable also sustained injuries during the encounter,” stated Commissioner Sundar to ANI.
