For those who missed the previous chance to register for Kerala’s 2025 local body elections, there’s good news! You now have a final opportunity to add your name to the voters’ list this Tuesday, November 4th, and Wednesday, November 5th.
The updated supplementary list, incorporating these new registrations, will be officially released on November 14th.
State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan announced on Monday that this special window is for all eligible citizens whose names were not included in the final voters’ list published on October 25th.
These crucial elections in 2025 will cover all local bodies across Kerala, with the sole exception of Mattannur municipality in Kannur, where its current five-year term has not yet concluded. This two-day period isn’t just for new registrations; it also allows the public to apply for the removal of ineligible voters, correct any existing details, or transfer names between different wards. Even overseas electors can use this opportunity to get their names on the list.
Electoral Registration Officers will process all applications diligently, leading to the publication of the supplementary list on November 14th. Political parties will receive complimentary copies of this revised list.
This additional registration period has been implemented in accordance with Sections 23 and 24 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, and Sections 79 and 80 of the Kerala Municipalities Act, which govern the inclusion and correction of electoral roll entries.
Anyone who will be 18 years old on or before January 1, 2025, is eligible to enroll. Applications can be conveniently submitted online via the commission’s website. Specifically, use Form 4 for new enrolments, Form 6 for corrections, Form 7 for transferring names (transposition), and Form 6A for overseas electors. After submitting your application, you will receive a computer-generated notice with details for a mandatory in-person hearing. Remember to bring all necessary documents to this hearing.
The final voters’ list, initially released by the commission on October 25th, contained a total of 2,84,30,761 voters.
The upcoming 2025 elections will involve 941 grama panchayats, 86 municipalities, six corporations, 152 block panchayats, and 14 district panchayats across the state.
