A devastating road accident in Phalodi, Rajasthan, claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals and left two others seriously injured on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The tragedy unfolded when a tempo traveller, transporting a group of devotees, collided with a parked trailer truck.
The incident took place near Matoda village, situated on the busy Bharat Mala Highway. Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash confirmed the casualties, stating, “Fifteen passengers tragically lost their lives, while two sustained severe injuries. The injured received initial treatment at a hospital in Osian before being transferred to Jodhpur for advanced medical care.”
Authorities have revealed that the victims hailed from the Sursagar area of Jodhpur. They were on their way back from the revered Kolayat temple in Bikaner, where they had offered prayers at the Kapil Muni Ashram. All deceased individuals have been moved to the mortuary at Osian government hospital.
Following the horrific incident, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma conveyed his profound grief and directed officials to provide every possible assistance to the grieving families and ensure the injured receive optimal medical attention.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his sorrow, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share his condolences. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the news that 15 people have died in a road accident in Matoda, Phalodi. My heart goes out to them. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls, provide strength to their families, and ensure a swift recovery for those injured.”
