In a deeply unfortunate incident, a bus filled with religious devotees met with a tragic accident in Rajasthan’s Phalodi district. The bus, en route to Sursagar in Jodhpur from its pilgrimage, collided with a stationary trailer near Matoda village on the Bharat Mala Highway. The collision, which occurred approximately 400 kilometers from the state capital, Jaipur, claimed the lives of at least 15 passengers. The group had recently visited Kolayat in Bikaner before the mishap.
According to reports, along with the 15 fatalities, three individuals sustained serious injuries. They were initially transported to a hospital in Osian for preliminary treatment before being referred to Jodhpur for further care. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the mortuary at the Osian government hospital.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, has expressed his condolences, stating that the government stands in solidarity with the families affected by this tragedy. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also shared his grief, extending prayers for the departed souls and strength for their families during this difficult time.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of road safety. It follows a previous tragedy in Jaisalmer where 26 people lost their lives in a bus fire, highlighting ongoing concerns about vehicle safety standards and compliance within the transport sector.
