With the festive season just around the corner, South Central Railway (SCR) is stepping up its game to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic. Their latest initiative focuses on encouraging the use of the UTS mobile app for ticket purchases directly at station areas, aiming to streamline the boarding process and reduce queues.
To facilitate this, SCR has introduced retro-reflective jackets equipped with QR code stickers on the back. These QR codes can be easily scanned using either the UTS app or the Rail One app, allowing passengers to quickly buy their unreserved tickets. Staff members promoting the UTS app will wear these distinctive jackets in high-traffic zones such as station concourses, entry/exit points, and near ticket counters, making the QR codes readily accessible.
This convenient new system has been rolled out across all six divisions of the South Central Railway, including major stations like Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Tirupati, and Nanded. Passengers now have the flexibility to purchase tickets from any location within five meters of the station premises and railway tracks. The UTS app also offers multi-language support, ensuring a user-friendly experience for a wider range of travelers, as announced in a press release on Thursday (September 18, 2025).
